Every year November 11th rolls around and SKS students hold a small assembly to honor those who have fought for our country. However, this year brought some changes.
Mr. Robertson, the Social Studies teacher, decided to try something new. Shell Knob held a pot luck breakfast to honor our local veterans.
Teachers, staff, and administration provided the breakfast food. Dr. Fransen even made homemade pancakes on the griddle for visiting veterans. The celebration started with everyone standing for the pledge of Allegiance and then students and veteran’s sang the “Star Spangled Banner."
Every student had the pleasure of meeting and thanking the veteran’s for their service. SKS student has the special honor of meeting a young man serving his country at this time.
After the students left for class, the veterans were served by staff and the 8th grade Social Studies class.
SKS would like to thank the veterans for their service and coming to our small celebration in honor of them.
