Mrs. Mullis prepared students by having them make box viewers, and then she had them practice looking at the sun using the viewer they made. The whole school was given the special glasses for viewing and students were instructed on safely viewing the eclipse. Students in the middle school were also given a safety quiz before viewing the eclipse on Monday.

Mrs. Wheeler’s third grade glass added a paper plate to the glasses to make them safer, based on model from an article on solar eclipse safety.  During the eclipse, classes were out watching and observing the phenomenon at different times. It was exciting and thrilling to be a part of this history making day.
