Every spring during March Madness for the last four years Mrs. Reynolds, or Miss Judy as the children know her, has held a checkers tournament. Students’ kindergarten through 8th grade learn how to play checkers, plus they learn how to use strategies. Students can see the outcome of bad or good moves in a simple game that has been around for many years. (It can be considered an ancient game that has been played in one form or another through the millennium)

Furthermore, as the children grow older, they get better at strategizing while playing against other opponents and older opponents. Each class plays until there is a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner. In the next rounds K-2 first place winners play against each other until there is an overall, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner in those grades.

Next, the 3rd -5th grade first place winners play against each other until there is an overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner.

Last but not least, the 6th -8th grade 1st place winners also compete to get an overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in the middle school. The students are awarded in front of the classmates, parents, teachers, and school friends.
