Shell Knob 5th grade and the Community

Haven, group photo

SKS’s 5th grade class has been working on a service project all semester in their counseling class.

The students choose to collect money and supplies for The Haven of the Ozarks. The 1st step was to collect money. They collected a total of $284.00. Part of the money was
used to buy supplies so the children could make toys for the dogs. The rest of the money, $230.00, was used to buy pet supplies form the Haven’s wish list on Amazon.

The next step was to make and put out boxes to collect extra items for The Haven. The 3rd step was to make toys for the dogs. The culminating activity was to visit The Haven on May 8th.

The students brought the supplies and toys to the animals at The Haven. While at The Haven, students spent time walking dogs, petting cats, and showing the animals love. This activity was one of many lessons students at SKS learn to serve their community.
