What is Scholar Bowl?
Scholar Bowl is a quiz-based competition that tests players on a wide variety of academic and trivial subjects. There are generally two different types of questions, toss-up questions and bonus questions. The game is played with a buzzer system between two teams that usually consist of four players each. A moderator reads questions to the players who try to score points for their team by buzzing first (toss-up) and responding with the correct answer. Your team wins the opportunity to answer the bonus question first if you correctly answer the toss-up question.
Practice Expectations:
Practices will be held either during Charger Hour or after school. Practice schedules will be given out during the first practice.
When attending practice, you understand that the same expectations for the school day still apply. Team members must be attentive and focused to optimize our time together.
If you cannot control your behavior, you may not be allowed to compete with the team during tournaments. In extreme cases you may be removed from the team.
Appropriate behavior during practice includes:
Take notes of things you would like to research later.
Observing tournament behavior and guidelines during practices.
Buzz in or raise your hand depending on the practice. Do not blurt out answers.
