award

This year, a new tradition has begun at Shell Knob School.   Athletic Director, Jeremy Land felt it was important to recognize the efforts of our athletes with more than just a "good job" from the coaches.  Coach Land planned, organized and implemented an Activities  Banquet for our Middle School students and their parents.  "I wanted to do an Activities Banquet to honor the kids and what they accomplished in their extra curricular activities this year. Wanted it to be a semi-formal event that they could get excited for and their families could attend. We had Geraldi’s cater it. The activities that were presented were Basketball, Cross Country, ESports, Scholar Bowl, Volleyball, Track, Archery, and Drama. It was a fun event!" remarked Coach Land.

Coach Land was excited about the new award for this year. The following are his comments, recognizing the stand out student-athlete.

"This year we are starting an award called the Shell Knob Charger of the Year.  The award is given to a student-athlete that participates in multiple activities, while also excelling in the classroom.  They are a great representative of Shell Knob and consistently show the characteristics that make them successful and will continue to do so in the future. This individual this year is a person of high character and is always willing to help. They consistently apply themselves in the classroom. They challenge themselves by participating in and being successful in multiple activities.  This year we are proud to present the first Shell Knob Charger of the Year award to Ryan Crumb."

Students were recognized for their accomplishments throughout the year in athletics and extracurricular activities.  Eighth grader Leah Walker said, "I really liked it. I thought it was cool, something different. I was grateful to be recognized and included. I really liked that it was a dress up event." Leah also added that she hopes this is something the school continues year after year because she feels it is something that will be important for the students. Overall, it was a great event, enjoyed by all who attended.
