Eighth grade science is so exciting ! Who doesn't enjoy taking apart the undigested part of an Owl's food! Recently, our 8th graders took a deep dive into the fascinating world of owl pellets! Armed with tweezers and a curious spirit, they embarked on a journey to uncover the hidden treasures of the owl 's diet. As they carefully dissected the pellets , they discovered an array of bones—most notably, the remains of rodents!
Each student took on the challenge of identifying these bones and sorting them on our tetrapod skeleton diagram. Did you know? Owls are expert hunters with specialized digestive systems that allow them to regurgitate indigestible parts of their meals (hello, pellets !). This makes them nature's very own recyclers! The excitement was palpable as they pieced together the puzzle of limb structure and learned how these bones connect to the larger picture of tetrapod relations.
Who knew that science could be this fun?
Stay tuned for more discoveries from our budding biologists! #ScienceRocks #OwlPelletDissection #FutureScientists #TetrapodTales
