The Quilt of Valor was presented to our own Nurse Duke at Shakin in the Shell. A Quilt of Valor is a quality handmade quilt, machine stitched or hand stitched. It is awarded to a Veteran or Service Member. The message sent with the quilt is "Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation."
In order to be a Quilt of Valor, the quilt must be a specific size, must have a label with required information and it must be awarded, (it is not a gift) and it must be recorded.
This incredible program was started in 2003 and as of this year, 350,000 Quilts of Valor have been made and awarded nation wide.
